Mason is 1 year old!

Mason is 1 year old! Happy Birthday to Mason!

Things he likes:
  • Walking: he's still wobbly, but he's walking all over the place these days.
  • People: he definitely likes to be with people. if you leave in him in a room by himself, he'll cry
  • Flying: he breaks into a big smile when dada flies him through the air
  • Playing with water: he splashes water everywhere when he gets a bath. he also likes to play with Tachi's water and try to stick his hand in the toilet (eww...gross! good think mama and dada get to him before he succeeds).
  • His thumb: it'll be interesting to see how mama and dada get him to break this habit.
  • Whining: he complains a lot. when he's really fussy, he'll look for mama or dada. walk up to them. tug on their pant legs, look up with those doe eyes and starts whining because he wants to be picked up.
  • Pulling people's faces: if you're holding him, watch out. he's quick
  • Me: mama says he's my biggest fan. he follows me around the house, plays with everything that i want to play with and gets into all of my toys

Things he doesn't like:
  • Napping: he's just not a good napper. at least he's sleeping through the night
  • Being hungry: but who does? when he's hungry, he gets really grouchy, kinda like mama.

The aquarium, Tang-style

Today we went to the quarium with Caylie, uncle Ed, auntie Lia and Po-Po. After lunch at Aqui's, we headed off to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. OMG, it was super crowded! We couldn't park in our usual spot, but we managed to find parking

We went to see the jellyfish, but I didn't want to go near them. You see, at lunch auntie Lia told me about how she and uncle Ed got stung by jellyfish. I was afraid they would try to sting me if I got too close. Mama tried to reassure me that it would be okay, but I didn't want to take any chances.

When I wasn't listening to mama, Uncle Ed threatened to throw me into the ocean. Does he know how cold that water is?! Throwing me into the cold ocean water is considered child abuse. After that, I didn't really like him as much. Dada said auntie Lia would protect me from mean Uncle Ed. He said she wouldn't let him throw me in the cold ocean.

This time Mason also had a chance to get in on the action. He liked watching the puffins dive in the water to eat and playing at the Splash Zone. Good thing dada packed extra shirts for us! Po-po really liked the seahorses. She said she's never seen them before.

I had a great time showing everyone around the quarium! I'm so happy that uncle Ed, auntie Lia and Caylie moved back to the Bay Area so we can hang out more often.

Christmas means presents galore

During the holiday season I've been noticing that the number of presents under our Christmas tree would grow. One morning mama and I had a conversation about it.

Me: Oh, there're more presents. Maybe they're for Logan.
Mama: Or maybe they're for other people, like Mason, Ethan, dada, mama or our family and friends.
[short pause as I furrow my brow to think about what mama said]
Me: Or maybe they're for Logan.

Mama and dada have been trying to teach me that Christmas is about giving presents, not just getting presents. They asked me to help deliver gifts (homemade goodies) to our neighbors and give gifts to my Little Gym and swimming teachers (also homemade goodies).

Unlike last Christmas, this year's Christmas was jam-packed! On Christmas Eve, we packed up the family and headed to Ethan's house. After lunch and a nap, we packed up the car with turkey, gravy and presents and headed up to Sac. When we got to auntie Doris' house (she's actually grandma's auntie, which makes her my great, great auntie), dada and I went inside while mama and Mason stayed in the car (he fell asleep).

I said hello to everyone by shaking their hand and saying, "It's nice to meet you. My name is Logan." Uncle Kaz (he's also grandma's uncle) was quite impressed. We got to see all of dada's family from cousins Kimora, Kyle, Ethan, Seth, Sammy, to great, great aunties and uncles and everyone in between. We had a blast watching Cars2 on a humongous TV and running around. Santa even made a stop to visit us on his really busy night. And guess what? He gave each of us presents.

After auntie Doris' we went over to grandma Shibata's (Kimora and Kyle's grandma) house to open more presents. There were so many presents that they didn't fit under the tree! Once all the presents were distributed, I got busy opening presents. I said things like, "Ohhhh. Oh my goodness. Look at that."  I helped mama and dada open their presents too.  When all the presents were opened, I said, "I need more presents to open." We got so many new toys that we could open a toy store!

We spent the night at Ethan's house and headed home after breakfast and opening even more presents! They were mostly Mason's because he was tired and cranky at auntie Bridget's. The Tang family came over for Christmas dinner. We got to hang out with Caylie, uncle Ed, auntie Lia and Po-Po. And guess what. We got to open more presents!

Thank you to all of our very generous family and friends! We're so lucky to have you as part of our lives. Merry Christmas!

Christmas comes a little bit early

Mama went to a girls only party this afternoon.  She goes every year to this girls only party where they exchange holiday cookies, do a favorite things gift exchange and drink tea.  The only thing that sounds like fun is the holiday cookies.

So, it was an afternoon of hangin' with the boys. What did we do?  We took naps! Well, Mason and I took naps. I dunno why dada didn't nap.

When I woke up from my nap, grandma and grandpa were here. And they had a huge Christmas gift for me and Mason. We got busy tearing off the wrapping paper.  Underneath the wrapping paper was a giant brown box.  What the heck?!

When we ripped off the brown box, there was a super cool train table!  Just like the one Ethan and Kyden have.  Woo hoo!  While dada, grandpa and I assembled the train table, grandma took Mason sledding down the hallway in the box.  I think he really enjoyed it.  What do you think?

Lighting the tree at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

This morning mama and dada told me they had a surprised planned for the day. I love surprises!  It usually means something fun!

We loaded everyone, including Tachi, into the van and started driving.  When I woke up we were near Ethan's house!  After a quick stop to pick up lunch, we arrived at Ethan's...except no one was there but Liberty.  Strange...nut then I realized don't need to share the train table!

After lunch we got back into the car to meet up with grandma, grandpa, uncle jeff, auntie jeanette and ethan. Where? At Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!  I was fascinated by the really, really big roller coaster.  But I decided that I just liked to watch people ride it.

Ethan and I rode the rides in the little kid area. I rode the kiddie roller coaster, flew an airplane and a helicopter, and rode a yellow submarine. Grandpa, Ethan, Mama and I also rode a spinning, hot air balloon ride. Mason even got in the act.  He rode the merry-go-round for the first time! I don't think he liked it very much because part way through, he tried to climb off.

We also walked through a tunnel where we saw sharks and sting rays. I went through the tunnel twice!

There was also a snow hill. I've never seen real snow before. So, we decided to check it out. People were sledding down the hill. It looked like lots of fun, so dada, me, uncle jeff and ethan hopped in line. Mason fell asleep in the stroller, so he missed out.  You snooze; you lose. I loved sledding down the hill. I was laughing the entire time.  I had so much fun that mama and dada are talking about taking me and Mason to a snow park. Anyone want to come with?

If you thought my surprise was playing with Ethan at Six Flags, you're wrong. Turns out uncle Jeff and our family were special guests at the tree lighting ceremony. I got to flip the switch to light the gigantic tree inside the park. How cool is that?! While we watched the singers from the stage, uncle jeff and dada kept reminding me not to touch the switch until it was time. Do you know how hard that was for me?! But I listened!

After the tree was lit, we took a family picture with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Can you tell that Mason wasn't very impressed or excited about the tree lighting?

Thanks for hooking us up auntie jeanette! I had a great time!

Cordero annual holiday party

This evening we went to the Cordero annual holiday party.  Uncle Ritchie and Auntie Margaret live in a really cool neighborhood where everyone goes all out with the Christmas decorations.  At first, I wasn't too excited about the party.  When dada asked me why, I told him Uncle Ritchie doesn't have any toys.  Easy problem to solve...we packed up my trains to play with there.

Auntie Margaret had a craft table set up.  We made snowmen and snow globes.  Since I didn't know what a snow globe was, she brought one over to the table to show me.  I really liked using the glitter glue to make the snow in my snow globe.  Can you tell which one I made and which one mama made?

We also played a game called a white elephant gift exchange.  It involved picking numbers and then picking a gift based on the number you had.  When it was your turn you could either open a new gift or steal one from someone who already had one.  Since dada had the number 1, I got to open a gift.  It was a hot wheels track!  Super cool!  But I didn't want anyone to steal it.  So anytime someone would show a little bit of interest in it, I'd hold on to it tight or try to hide it behind me.  Luckily no one took it from me and I got to keep it!

I had lots of fun playing trains with Kyden, Sienna, Kaiden and Mason.  That's right there were two Kydens!  Another friend, Nathan, was still too little to play with us.  He was only 3 months old.  But I bet next year he'll be playing along side with us.  Mason had so much fun that passed out before we left.

Thanks for inviting us to the party, Uncle Ritchie and Auntie Margaret!  And thanks to Auntie Mimi for taking the pics posted on my post.

Here comes Santa Claus...

On Friday, Dada and I went on a man date!  He picked me up from daycare and off we went to the mall. (Don't worry, he didn't leave Mason.  Mason was home because he had a fever, but he's better now.) We did some shopping and had dinner.

We also walked by Santa!  As soon as I saw him, I wanted to go see him and tell him what I want for Christmas. Santa and I are old friends. I met him before I was one!  Dada said that we could come back so Mason could meet Santa too.

Well, this morning we headed back to the mall.  I guess lots of other kids had the same idea. There was a long line even before Santa showed up!  He was a few minutes late too...must've been a lot of traffic from the North Pole.

We waited in line for over 2 hours and finally got to meet Santa.  I spent most of that time at the Disney store with mama.  Mason did great when he met Santa. Not a single tear!
