Stuck In Reverse

If you've seen me lately, you'll know that I'm getting a bit mobile. I can roll from my back to my stomach and I can sort of scoot around...like a slug. Mommy's even seen me roll from my stomach to my back...but I can only do that in my crib (don't ask me why).

Mommy and daddy have woken up and found me at the near the top of my crib, near the bottom of my crib, perpendicular to where I started, and a bunch of places in between. How I get there is a mystery.

When mommy and daddy put me to sleep, they put me under my mobile so that I have something to look at when I wake up. Recently, daddy's been finding me closer to Twilight Turtle in the mornings. What's that mean? I've figured out how to slug backwards! Last night...I took it to the extreme!

Your Gym and My Gym

Yesterday, I met up with my pal Edison at My Gym in San Jose. Mommy says there are lots of similar places, and we plan to check them out too. We got to try this first class out for free. It's a common promotion that these children's gyms offer.

They offer classes for different age groups. We went to their Liitle Bundles class, which is for 6 weeks to 6 months.

Here's a sample of the things that we did:

  • Sang songs: I was confused cuz mommy didn't know the words to these songs (again). She swears she knew them at one point in her life. Guess losing your memory is common for old people.
  • Did a somersault (yes, on purpose): The teacher helped me by making me kiss the floor and then flipped my legs over my head. Good thing I didn't eat before class. Otherwise that could've been messy.
  • Dance: I clapped my hands, stomped my feet and tapped my toes with mommy's help, of course.
  • Baby exercises: mommy bicycled my legs, pulled me up from a lying position to a sitting position, and helped me touch my toes while lying down
  • Bounced in a bouncer: I was getting hungry and tried to eat part of the bouncer.
  • Rode in a swing: I warmed up to the swing after mommy tried to eat my toes when I swung toward her.
  • Marched: Mommy held me in her arms while we marched around the big red circle singing Yankee Doodle Dandy.

They change the activities for the classes with the bigger kids. They had lots of gymnastics equipment like parallel bars, a pommel horse, and trampolines. There's even a ball pit and an indoor slide! It'll be so much more fun when I'm older.

It was fun to check out the class, but the class time isn't very convenient (especially since mommy will be going back to work soon...waaaah!). Thanks for inviting me Edison! I can't wait to check out Little Gym next week.

Discovering the Children's Discovery Museum

Today, mommy took me to the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose so I could hang out with my buddies Edison and Matthew. Edison and I were newbies. Good thing Matthew's been there before and could show us the ropes. Of course, he's older and can crawl too.
We spent most of our time in the Wonder Cabinet, which is for infants and toddlers under 4. I was entranced by all the different play areas. There's an area in the Wonder Cabinet just for crawlers. That way us wanna-be-crawlers and crawlers don't get run over and trampled by all the older kids who can walk/run. It's not a very big space, but it's plenty big for us.

Matthew crawled all over the
place, while Edison and I lay around on our backs or tummies taking it all in. I really liked the mirrored cubbyhole where I could stare at my reflection. There were mirrors all around me - in front, on my left and right side, even above!

Mommy also took me to the kaleidoscope room so we could check out the carousel of lights and music. I wonder if this is what it's like to be at a rave. Anyone want to rave with me?

I had a lot of fun and am looking forward to going back when I can crawl! Mommy's curious about what I'm going to find interesting the next time too.

Baby Origami

So what's the deal with parents playing twister with their babies? How many of your mommies and daddies take your feet and stick them near your chin? Mine do. How many of your mommies and daddies play patty cake with your feet? Mine do.

Now, mommy and daddy are folding me in half! They say that it's good for my development, but I'm not so sure. Instead of just letting me hang out on my back or my tummy, mommy and sit my butt on the floor and prop me up on my arms. At first, I tipped over and konked my head on the ground. I'm getting better and staying centered (maybe I'd be good at yoga), but gravity is a powerful force and I typically end up folded in half.

Baby life is so hard!

I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up!

Oh my god! My hair fell down and it won't go back up! Someone give me some product!

This is my new exersaucer. Po-po says I'm too young for it, but the box says 4 months on it. I think I'm fine! There's so much to do (it takes 12 AA batteries) and so many things to drool on.

Did I mention that I'm a drooling machine now? I think I'm following in Matthew's footsteps. His mommy calls him a snail. If I were crawling, I'd leave a snail trail just like Matthew! By the end of the day, my bib is soaked with spit! I know...appealing picture, huh?

I'm getting really good at rolling from my back to my stomach. It really bugs mommy when I roll while she's trying to change me. Heheheh...of course that means I just wait for that opportunity. It's especially good when I'm covered in Aquaphor because I'm slippery like a greased pig! My biggest problem is that I don't know what to do once I'm on my tummy. It gets tiring and I get so frustrated because I don't know what else to do. I can't crawl and I cant flip back over, so I just scream! Any advice would be appreciated.
