Fun in San Diego

What a fun long weekend! We just got back from a long weekend in sunny San Diego. We flew down to attend cousin Helena's wedding. (Technically, she's mommy's cousin's daughter...I dunno what that makes her for me.) Since Uncle Eddie and Auntie Lia were also flying in from the east coast, we decided to make it a mini family vacation. Here's a recap of our weekend.

Thursday (10/6): Mommy, Daddy, PoPo and I flew down to San Diego. After stopping at cousin Helena's place to pick up a stroller and Trader Joe's to pick up snacks and milk, we checked in to the La Jolla Shores Hotel. Immediately after checking in, we met up with great Auntie Jill, great Uncle Keith, Auntie Kelcy, Uncle Jason and Auntie Jessica for dinner.

Friday (10/7): Hello SeaWorld! I loved the Sesame Street Bay of Play. I rode all the rides and ran around the play area. Mommy tried to take me on Elmo's Flying Fish, but they didn't let her on the ride because she's pregnant. Boo...baby sis/bro is already putting a damper on my fun! I rode Oscar's Rocking Eel with Po-Po and Uncle Eddie. I don't think Uncle Eddie enjoyed it as much as Po-Po and I did. The dolphins and whales were only okay. Definitely not interesting enough to sit through the show. I also got my picture taken with a life-sized Elmo and The Count! Mommy and daddy were amazed that I didn't freak out or cry. They should give me more credit, I even gave them both hugs! For dinner, Mommy, daddy and I drove out to great Auntie Jill and great Uncle Keith's house so I could play with cousin Oliver.

Sat (10/8): We walked along the beach, where there were lots of surfers. Mommy and daddy thought there might've been a surf competition. I even tried to ride a surf board...on the sand. Maybe someday I'll actually ride on in the ocean. After playing at the playground next to the beach and hotel, daddy took me swimming at the hotel pool. I didn't like it as much as swim school because the water was colder. After lunch and a nap, we got ready and went to cousin Helena's wedding, which was right on the beach.

Sun (10/9): We flew home.

The Highlights
  • My new Thomas the Train roller bag
  • Riding buses (parking to terminals, rental car shuttles)
  • Hanging out with Uncle Eddie and Auntie Lia, who I never get to see. It took me a while to warm up to Uncle Eddie, but eventually I let him feed me breakfast.
  • Playing with cousin Oliver. Thanks for sharing your toys with me!
  • Riding all the Sesame Street rides at SeaWorld
  • Meeting Elmo and The Count
  • The park next to the hotel
The Lowlights
  • The plane rides. Even though I like airplanes and mommy/daddy packed lots of things for me to do, I was not a happy camper. I was tired because both flights were during my nap time. And I wanted to walk around but I couldn't cuz the buckle seat belt sign was on.
  • Sleeping in a strange crib/room. I didn't sleep well in the crib the hotel gave me. The heater also freaked me out. Thank goodness mommy and daddy packed my bear and Logan blanket. That made it slightly better, but I still couldn't sleep. I kept waking up in throughout the night to make sure that mommy and daddy were still there. It was so bad that mommy and daddy let me sleep in their bed with them the next 2 nights.

Group Bike Ride

Uncle Jimmy (Abby's daddy) organized a bike ride for us kiddo's and our parents today. We had a really good group:

-Uncle Jimmy, Auntie Sabrina and Abby
-Uncle Paul and Chloe
-Uncle Ed, Auntie Char and Greyson
-Uncle Mike and Ky
-Me and Daddy (Mommy couldn't bike because Kabocha's growing in her tummy.)

We met up at Campbell Park and rode along the Los Gatos Creek Trail to Vasona Park.

Daddy got lots of questions about our bike seats from other people on the trail. Guess we looked super cool! I had so much fun on the ride. I pointed out all the things that I saw to Daddy. I wanted to make sure that he didn't miss anything. Whenever we stopped, I'd say, "More. More."

When we got to Vasona Park, we met Mommy, Auntie Christi and Sienna. We had a picnic lunch and stretched our legs. I even saw a train! After lunch, Daddy and I rode back to Campbell Park. I had so much fun in the morning that I fell asleep about 1/3 of the way back. Hey, I wasn't the only one...Abby fell asleep too!

Thanks for organizing, Uncle Jimmy! I hope this becomes a regular activity! Maybe next time I'll actually be able to ride on the train at Vasona park too.

Choo-Choo! All Aboard!

Today is Kyden's 2nd birthday. His Mama and Dada threw him a train themed party! And I was lucky enough to be invited! Thanks Ky!

I was in train heaven. Kyden got a super cool train table and train set as an early birthday gift from his Mama and Dada. He let all of us kids play with his train set. I think his train set is a Thomas the Train one. It makes noises when the trains go through certain buildings. He's so lucky. I wish I had a super cool train table and train set. But wait, it gets even better!

I know it's hard to believe that there could be anything better than a train table, but there is! A real life train that we got to ride around the neighborhood! There was a conductor, a bell, a train whistle and bubbles. I rode the train around his neighborhood three times. It was so much fun! I waved to people driving/walking by. I bet they were jealous and wished they could ride on our party train. I kept asking Mommy to blow my train whistle (cool party favors) when we were on the train.

Creature of Habit

Mommy is always saying that Daddy is a creature of habit. After today, she thinks that I may be like him in this respect. What happened today? Well, there was a special Teddy Bear Picnic planned for lunch today. Daddy brought "Bear" to daycare so we could have lunch together.

Normally, when it's lunch time we wash our hands, go sit at the table and put on a bib. Today, after I washed my hands, I turned around and the table and chairs were gone! OMG! Where did they go?! Where we going to have lunch?! Were we going to have lunch?! Where was the food?! What was going on?!

I couldn't handle it and started to wail. I cried and cried. Ms. Elaine tried to calm me down and explain that everything was fine. She kept telling me that we were going to have a picnic with our Teddy Bears today, and that I just had to put my shoes on. Shoes?! Doesn't she know it's not time to go outside? It's lunch time woman!! Where are the tables, chairs, bibs and food?! This is what we do every day!

Eventually, she managed to get me to the door so I could see that the tables, chairs and food were outside. As soon as I saw that, I calmed down. Sniff, sniff. Oh...I get it now. We're still eating, just outside. We ended up having a nice picnic with our Teddy Bears. After lunch, I brought bear over to the sandbox. Some of my friends pushed their bears around in the Cozy Coupes or rode with their bears in the Cozy Coupes.

What can I say? I guess I'm just a creature of habit...just like Daddy.

Doctor's Visit

Today, I went to the doctor. Don't worry, everything's fine. It was my 18 month check up. Instead of the baby scale, I got weighed on the big scale. Here're my stats:

Height: 33.5 inches (83rd percentile)
Weight: 27 lbs, 8 ounces (72nd percentile)
Head circumference: 48 cm (57th percentile)

My doctor says that I'm doing great! Since my appointment was at the end of the day, she said that it was a pleasure to have such a happy, well-behaved child. Then she left and the nurse came back to give me my shots. Boo! At least I got Snoopy band-aids and 2 Thomas the Train stickers.
