Happy Year of the Horse!

To celebrate the Lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year), we had dinner with Po-Po, Uncle Eddie, Auntie Lia, Caylie and Nathan in Fremont. We went to a new restaurant that Po-Po's friend recommended.

Mommy and daddy learned their lesson last year. This time they packed lots of snacks...just in case it took forever for the food to arrive. It was a good thing too because Mason was starving by the time we got there.

Mommy has been teaching me new year greetings so that I could surprise Po-Po. She taught me to say, "Xin Nian Kuai Le. Gong Xi Fa Chi." Translation: "Happy New year. Wishing you good fortune." Sometimes I can say it on my own. Other times, I need some help with the first word and then I'll remember the rest. Po-Po was really impressed when I greeted her and gave me a hong bao (red envelope). Mason and I were more interested in the envelope than the money inside. Mommy's pretty sure that will change as we get older.

Caylie sat in Daddy's lap during dinner. I think she really likes daddy. I didn't really mind sharing daddy, but Mason didn't like that one bit. As soon as he finished eating and got out of his high chair, he walked over to daddy. Waving his arms in front of him, he said, "No Caylie. My daddy."

Putt Putt Birthday Party

Grey had his third birthday party at his favorite place - Golfland. Apparently he goes there at least twice a week. I've played mini-golf twice in my life; one time with Grey and one time with grandma and grandpa.

I got to to hang out with older women - Katie and Ellie. They're eight! If you can't tell them apart, it's okay. They're identical twins, and I couldn't tell them apart either (but don't tell them that!). They were really sweet and patient. I had fun playing mini-golf with them.

After mini-golf, it was time to sing happy birthday and eat cupcakes! Cake/Cupcakes are the best part of birthday parties. Mason really enjoyed the chocolate frosting. He squished it in his hands before he ate it. I think he thought it was tactile exploration time, like at school. It got all over his hands and face.

After cupcakes, we went to play more mini-golf. By the time we finished our round, everyone had left and Grey's family was packing up the party area. We definitely got Auntie Char's money's worth of golf.

Mommy and Logan Day

I had mommy and Logan day today. She was making up for abandoning us for two days when she went to San Diego for work this past week.

After cooking class and a pit stop at Starbucks, we drove to Kyden and Sienna's house for a playdate. Mason was invited too, but since he had swim class and still takes naps, he stayed home with daddy. We met up with Edison, Matthew and Jeffrey (Matthew's baby brother) at Kyden's house.

We ate lunch and played at Kyden's house. Then we all headed out to Super Franks in Pleasanton. It's really close to Kyden's house. He's so lucky! We got to play in the Fish Tank room. It was super cool. The room was decorated like the inside of a fish tank and had black light, so it was dark and white would glow in the dark. There was a giant foam pit, a jumpy house, a plastic play structure and ride-on cars that look like WaveRunners. We had a blast!

After they closed that room to get it ready for a party, we went to check out the mini-gym. This room had plasma cars, like the ones we got for Christmas from Caylie and Nathan, and giant, inflatable slides. There was also a zipline, but it wasn't open yet. So, we hung out riding the cars and playing on the slide.

After about 15 minutes or so, they took the slide down for a game of dodge ball. It was kids vs. the Super Frank employees. I wasn't interested in dodge ball. So, mommy and I just sat and watched everyone else play while we waited for the zipline to open. The dodge ball game was never-ending. It just kept on going and going and going. I was ready to go home. So, we went to say good-bye to Kyden and Sienna.

On our way out, mommy noticed that the zipline was open. When she asked me if I wanted to do it before we left, I replied, "That's okay, mommy. We can do it the next time we come." That's when mommy knew I was done and it was really time to go home.

Football Playdate Times Two

Kyden and Sienna invited me, Mason, Caylie and Nathan over for a playdate today. It's the first time we've ever had a family playdate with someone. We had a great time playing, eating, playing some more, and eating some more. I think we played in every single room of Kyden and Sienna's house except for their parents' room.

The grown-ups watched football the entire time. Uncle Eddie got really into the 49er game. While I was in the bathroom with mommy, Uncle Eddie started to yell at the TV. I asked mommy why Uncle Eddie was yelling. She told me that he was just very excited about the game. Daddy was helping Caylie down the stairs when Uncle Eddie yelled. Apparently, Caylie stopped, leaned backwards and said, "Scared."

Just before halftime, we headed down to Grey's house for more playing, eating and football. Uncle Paul, Chloe and Megan's dad, made a couple of smoked ducks. They were supposed to come to Tahoe with us, but auntie Leeya had a kidney stone. So they didn't make it, and we didn't get to eat Uncle Paul's smoked duck.

Anyway, we had a great time hanging out with all our family and friends today. The grown-ups also had a great time because all us kids played well together; and they got to watch football. Well, it was great except for the 49ers losing.

Pizza, french fries and snow

Grey invited us to Tahoe for a 4 day weekend. Unlike last year, it wasn't for his birthday, there was one less family, and there wasn't nearly as much snow. But this year, I learned to ski! Here's a recap of our weekend.

Friday (1/10): Mommy and daddy picked us up from daycare after lunch and we hit the road. We woke up grumpy in Sacramento, so we took a short break at Target in Sacramento. After running around the store and a snack, we were back on the road. Grey had to make an unplanned pit stop at a pediatric dentist in Vacaville. Turns out a cavity in his two front teeth got infected. He needed antibiotics to help with the pain and swelling and is going to have his teeth pulled. We all made it to the cabin by about 7 pm.

Saturday (1/11): Daddy and I headed out to Sierra at Tahoe for my first ski lesson while mommy and Mason hung out at the house with Grey, auntie Char and uncle Edric. Since parents are not allowed to go to the lesson, I had major issues separating from daddy. After crying for a while, I finally went with my instructor and got all my gear. Turns out there was another Logan in my class. We hung out inside for a while and eventually went outside with our skis. It was snowing! As promised, daddy was right on the other side of the fence watching me. Check out the video of my first day!



My instructor said that I was awesome and recommended that I move up to the next group. We headed back to the house after my lesson for lunch. While everyone else took a nap, daddy and I played outside in the snow. We made a snow shark and snow snail.

What did mommy and Mason do all morning? Well, they played outside with Grey and auntie Char. There wasn't very much snow, but there was enough to make snowballs and throw them. Mason had fun throwing the snowballs. However, he did not like wearing mittens. After a break for snack, they headed back outside when it started to snow. They made and threw some more snowballs, tried to catch a snowflake and started to make a snowman. Mason and mommy didn't get to finish making the snowman because Mason was done after about 10 minutes.

Sunday (1/12): Daddy and I headed back to Sierra for a full day of skiing. I cried when it was time to leave the house and for an hour at the resort. I told mommy that I didn't like ski school because it was different and daddy couldn't go with me. Daddy bought me a stuffed turtle, Ski Turtle, at the gift shop so I could take it with me to ski school. That did the trick.

I had a different instructor today. And because it snowed on Saturday, there was quite a bit more snow. My instructor said that I liked french fries and going fast and needed to work on my pizzas. After lunch, daddy and I skiied together. We rode the chair lift and rode down the green run five times. I liked watching the snowboarders doing tricks on the terrain park while we rode the lift. I fell down getting off the lift the first time, but instead of crying or whining, I laughed. I had a great time skiing! Here's a video of me skiing with daddy:



Mason, mommy, Grey, auntie Char and uncle Edric went sledding at Adventure Mountain in the morning. Mason really enjoyed sledding, even though he and mommy wiped out on their first run. After each run, he'd say, "Again!" or "More!" He refused to walk up the hill and made mommy pull him up on the sled. She got a good workout hiking up the hill.

Monday (1/13): Time to say goodbye and drive back home. I can't wait to go skiing with daddy again. Anyone else want to come with?
