Mason is 11 months old!

Happy 11 months to Mason!

Here's what he likes:
  • Meat: He's definitely a carnivore. And he's an equal opportunity meat eater...turkey, chicken, beef, pork...it's all good.
  • Clapping: We're not sure if he's clapping because he's happy or if he's trying to sign the word more.  If you clap at him, he'll usually start clapping. It's really cool when he claps with food in his hands. Mama doesn't really appreciate it when that happens.
  • Toilet paper: He loves to pull the toilet paper off the roll. To make sure we don't kill too many trees, mama's had to move the toilet paper.
  • Grabbing mama's mouth: He'll grab mama's lips and pinch them. When mama yelps because it hurts, he laughs and does it again.
  • Putting his hair in a ponytail: Okay, I don't know if he really likes it. But mama always puts his into a ponytail at the top of his head.
  • Dancing: He bounces up and down. Ms. May, one of his day care teachers, is training him. Every time he does this at day care, she says, "Go Mason. Go Mason. Go Mason."
  • Cruising: He's on the move more and more. Sometimes he even stands without holding on to anything, but then he plops onto his butt.
  • Day care: He doesn't cry anymore when dada drops him off. Sometimes he doesn't even look up when dada and I leave. Plus he's getting better at napping there too!  He's taken an hour plus nap several days now.  Let's hope he's figured out the benefits of napping.
Here's what he doesn't like:
  • Books: he's not as into books as I am. When mama reads to him before bed, he always tries to close the book before mama's done. Maybe that'll change as he gets older.
  • Rice: I think that's just weird. Who doesn't like rice? Every time mama gives him rice, he chews it and then spits it out. He's more of a bread guy. Oh well, more rice for me and dada!

Mason's Weight Check

This morning was like every other morning, until it was time to go to school.  Usually dada, Mason and I leave together.  But this morning, it was just me and dada.  Mason was spending the day with mama and he had a doctor's appointment.

Why the doctor's appointment?  Because he didn't gain very much weight at his 9 month appointment, mostly because of his stomach and GI issues.  So he had to back to make sure he put the weight back on.  Good news!  He gained weight. He weighs 19 lbs, 7 oz and is in the 13th percentile. I'm not surprised that he gained weight considering how much he eats these days.  Somedays he can out eat me!

While they were at the doctor's, Mason also got a flu shot and his blood drawn.  Mama says he did super great with both.  He didn't cry at all.  Not even for the blood draw.  He just smiled at the lab techs as they drew his blood.  Mama was shocked because when I had my blood drawn, I wailed. Way to go little bro!

Mason's First Thanksgiving

Gobble, gobble.  That's turkey for Happy Thanksgiving. We've been talking about things we say thank you for at day care. Mama asked me what things I say thank you for the other day. Here's how the conversation went:

Mama: Logan, Thanksgiving is this week. What do you say thank you for?
Me: Candy!
Mama: Anything else?
Me: Mac & cheese...and mama
Mama: What about dada?
Me: (pause) Yeah.
Mama: And Mason?
Me: (another pause) Yeah.

Dada says that I'm consistent because anytime anyone would ask me what I was thankful for, I'd always answer, "Mac & cheese and mama."

This year mama signed us up for the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot.  My buddies Matthew and Kyden were "running" it too.  Mama and dada "ran" the 5K pushing us in a double stroller that we borrowed from Connor and Claire.  The stroller was named Bob.  He wasn't as comfortable as the double stroller we rented in Orlando.  Can you tell how thrilled we were to be doing the Turkey Trot?

After mama and dada's "race" it was my turn to run the Kids Fun Run.  Matthew and Kyden also ran the Fun Run. It was a 30 yard dash. We held hands while we ran.  Don't let these pictures fool you.  If you ask me who was the fastest, I'll say, "Logan."  I didn't want to leave mama behind, so I had to slow my pace down.  Maybe next year, Mason can run with us too!

At the end of the run, we all got medals!  Well, only us kids.  How come we get medals and the grown-ups don't?  I mean they run farther than us don't they?

We spent the evening at grandma and grandpa's house. Grandpa has a super cool train set!  Kimora and I had a great time playing with it.  Sorry, we messed up your train set, Grandpa.  Hopefully, you remember how to put it back together.

This was also Mason's first Thanksgiving!  He had a great time playing with Kyle, watching Kimora dance and exploring "new" toys.  He also found grandma and grandpa's stairs, which he could climb up, but not down.  Mason must've worked up an appetite playing because he ate a ton of food!  He ate turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and an entire Kings Hawaiian roll.  Man that kid can eat!

I hope everyone had great Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Mason can use a sippy cup

Mason's been practicing drinking from a sippy cup at school.  How do you think he's doing?

Does this count as walking?

This is how I started walking too.  And yes, it's the same shopping cart!

I think Mason's going to need some shoes soon...
